Sarada Devi was born on 22nd December 1853 as the first child of a pious couple, Ramachandra Mukherji and Shyama Sundari Devi who were living in Jayrambati of Bankura district in West Bengal. The family was very poor, and from childhood Sarada helped her parents in various household chores and brining up her younger brothers. She had no formal schooling, and could hardly read. Perhaps that's why she had a great desire to spread education amongst the masses specially for the girls and boys of lower depth. To materialise Holy Mother's dream, this school started humbly as a night school during the life time of Sri Sarada Devi with the patronage of Srimat Swami Saradanandaji Maharaj. The socio-economic profile of the students of our Institution here exhibit education in its true senses as Swamiji said: “EDUCATION IS THE MANIFESTATION OF THE PERFECTION ALREADY IN MAN”.
